We believe that the armchair is where a brand’s craftsmanship, sensibility, and philosophy are most clearly expressed.As we set out to design a new armchair for the future, the first question we faced was:“What kind of wood should we use?”

Finding meaning in creating furniture from sustainably planted softwoods, we turned our attention to structural wood offcuts―materials that are currently being discarded in the building industry.
With traditional woodworking techniques and careful handcraftsmanship, we felt compelled to bring beauty out of these materials.
To achieve this, we designed a custom frame to support the layered offcuts, and paid close attention to details―
including resin parts at the leg ends, which directly affect the comfort of the chair.

But above all, what matters most is the smooth finish and precise form made possible by traditional Japanese woodworking.
The comfort in touch and the ease of sitting reflect the quality we pursue.And within that, our belief quietly lives on:

アームチェアは、ブランドの技術や感性、そして哲学がもっともよくあらわれる存在だと、私たちは考えています。そこで、新たに未来に向けたアームチェアをデザインするにあたり、まず向き合ったのは、「どのような木を使うべきか」という問いでした。

植林された針葉樹から家具をつくることに意義を見出した私たちは、いまは廃棄されている建築構造材の端材に着目。伝統的な技法と丁寧な手仕事を駆使して、その材から美しい家具を生み出すべきだと考えました。
その目的を実現するため、積層材の端材を支える専用のフレームを設計し、座り心地に直結する脚端の樹脂パーツなど、細部にまでこだわってデザインしています。

しかし、何より大切なのは、日本の伝統的な木工技術によって実現された、滑らかな仕上げと緻密なフォルム。
心地よい手触りと、座りやすさを追求したクオリティのなかに、「構造の探求によって生まれた造形が、長い時間の審査に耐えうる美しさを持つ」という私たちの信念が、静かに息づいています。
